PRESS RELEASE January 13, 2017

Yamaha to Unveil Drive2 Lineup of Golf Cars at 2017 Merchandise Show Demo Day and Booth #2243

Innovative Drive2 QuieTech Gas Car Mirrors the Quiet Ride of an Electric Car

Newnan, Ga. – (January 13, 2017)  Yamaha Golf-Car Company will unveil The Drive2, its next generation of gas and electric golf cars, at the PGA Merchandise Show Demo Day and at their Trade Show Booth (# 2243) in Orlando, January 24-26.

Designed and manufactured by Yamaha to ensure a more agile, engaging and memorable driving experience, the Drive2 golf cars are the product of ongoing enhancements to the original Drive Series introduced in 2006, combined with striking new technological innovations across all four models (EFI, Carbureted, AC & DC).

Drive2 QuieTech Gas Golf Car

The highlight of the Yamaha Drive2 lineup is QuieTech, almost a new category of golf car that combines the quietness and ride of an electric car with the profitability and performance of a gas car. In the new Drive2 QuieTech model, Yamaha engineers have developed a gas golf car that is dramatically quieter than the competition and almost as quiet as an electric car.

Additionally, QuieTech is equipped with the first independent rear-suspension system ever built for use in a golf car; technology inspired from Yamaha’s renowned all-terrain vehicle line. It is also equipped with Yamaha’s electronic fuel injection system (EFI), which Yamaha first introduced to the industry in 2014. EFI technology affords superior gas mileage, easier cold starts and the industry’s smallest carbon footprint. The Drive2 gas car is also available in Yamaha’s proven standard carbureted fuel engine.

The Drive2 QuieTech EFI will be available for test drives at the PGA Show’s Demo Day at Orange County National Golf Club. Its quiet ride will also be on display in the Yamaha booth through a virtual movie called “The Yamaha Experience,” which will run in the innovative, soundproof, Yamaha Music surround sound theater.

“The Drive2 lineup of golf cars is our answer to the golf industry that relies on Yamaha to continuously develop cost-saving solutions while enhancing the player’s experience at their course,” according to Yamaha Golf-Car Company President Tom McDonald. “The Drive2 was so named as our way of acknowledging all of the best features that we took from the Drive lineup, while creating something new and innovative that will serve the golf industry for years to come. As with all of the other great products that Yamaha produces, the Drive2 embodies Yamaha’s singular dedication to being the leader in creating a lifetime of exciting and memorable experiences, as well as being a committed partner to the future of our industry.”

Yamaha will also be showcasing another layer of innovation, function and affordability in its YamaTrack GPS Solution – launched last year at the PGA Show – with the addition of a customized GPS screen that integrates a golf car to the course’s cloud-based YamaTrack fleet management control center.

The 8” bracket-mounted YamaTrack GPS screen allows the course to monitor pace-of-play, ensure proper fleet rotation and security, and even set geofences to control cart traffic. The screen also allows players to enjoy in-car yardage measurement, hole flyovers, pro tips and two-way messaging with the golf shop. The screen can be mounted to any Yamaha golf car, and equipping temporary tournament fleet cars with the same GPS system as the main fleet is quick and easy.
